DESERT WEEK

Cathedral Mountain

(Brewster County, Texas)

It rises from the bleak landscape

like bony hands

wringing in hard prayer.

The elements worship there,

cracking open their hymnals

of rock, mouthing in silence

their verses of ice and fire.

Of rock is the belfry, of rock

the dark bells soundlessly ringing

in absolute stillness, tugged

by the howling blind sexton

of the wind.

Oh my, Sandy, how perfect is your photo and Larry Thomas’s poem for today’s celebration of your Dad’s life. As I write, I see all of you gathered together in your “Living In Paradise” home; I’m quite sure your Dad’s Chihuahuan Desert birds & animals are gathered today in celebration too ~ ~ ~
