The Rider

A boy told me

if he roller-skated fast enough

his loneliness couldn’t catch up to him,

the best reason I ever heard

for trying to be a champion.

What I wonder tonight

pedaling hard down King William Street

is if it translates to bicycles.

A victory! To leave your loneliness

panting behind you on some street corner

while you float free into a cloud of sudden azaleas,

pink petals that have never felt loneliness,

no matter how slowly they fell.

I can just see the boy roller skating gleefully down the street. Fun one!

Thank you Sandy for Cloud Week and you ~ ~ ~
In honor & celebration of both I just ordered yet another all time favorite book of mine to be mailed by Amazon to your Alpine PO Box:
“Nimby: An Extraordinary Cloud Who Meets a Remarkable Friend”
Written & illustrated (1982) by Jasper Tomkins it’s a children’s book for children of all ages.
I’ll say no more except to say that I’m not the only one who was enchanted by this little book 34 years ago. SO many, many others then as now.

    Note to Jesse:
Yep, another book to add to your craigfactor-inspired “to read” list – – – especially given your appreciation of Shel Silverstein!

  3. Jesse says:

ok what is going on around here, Craig Factor has homework now? 🙂

  4. Jesse says:

  5. Kathy says:
