Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate
And though I oft have passed them by
A day will come at last when I
Shall take the hidden paths that run
West of the Moon, East of the Sun.

I love this quote because if for no other reason since early childhood I’ve always had a fascination with alleys. And to my delight and amazement while visiting in Seattle in June so does my 3-1/2 year old grandson Gus!!! Driving along while coming & going from here to there with Daddy & Mommy & me Gus pointed out and wanted to visit each & every one including a favorite or two. Sometimes Grandma & Gus were ruled out. Damn.

We always had alleys growing up in billings. I liked them too. That is where the Hollyhocks grew, the scary nightness, rocks, and other imaginary things, LOL.

Yes! That is where the hollyhocks grew in my grandparents’ eastern Ohio – – – always against an oldtimey detached garage. Oh my, those high surreal noons in one of these alleys complete sometimes with thunderstormy wonderfulnesses – – –
