Summer Map by Frances Sage
To Sandy

Straight lines map north then west,
Vivid morning light floods shoulders and arms,
An arc view, like old oblique goodbyes,
the moment etched in light, detailed for memory.

Then the car starts, the present closes,

Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye.

The long scatter starts again.

Your mom’s poem is touching. I can feel how hard it is for her to say good bye to you … as I’m sure it’s hard for you too saying good bye to her and your dad.

  2. I read your mom’s poem this morning. Beautiful. Her word thoughts have resonated all day. Thank you and your mom ~ ~ ~
