The one thing I do not want to be called is First Lady. It sounds like a saddle horse. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis

The picture is great. I’d never heard Mrs. Kennedy Onassis’ quote before … but it makes me smile.

Oh My Goodness – Sandy It is a beautiful photo! Amazing!
I love the quote – I’m kind of amazed. The quote is a little brazen for a person that personified femininity and grace. Though I remember when I was in Dallas and we saw the memorial of JFK, the photo of her, Bird Johnson & Lyndon B. Johnson, taking the oath of Presidency, she was still in the clothes from when her husband was shot. They said she refused to change her clothes because she wanted to show the world how strong she really was and that her husband would have expected nothing less from the strong woman he married.

I think of Jackie Kennedy as refined but not timid. I was just talking to Barb about it as she is from Ft Worth and living there at the time of his death. In fact, Lee Harvey Oswald went to her High School when she was in HS. Anyway, I think the assassination of Kennedy is probably the most striking event in my mind of anything that has happened during my life time. I was in Jr High at the time and I remember the moment and time very vividly when I found out he had been shot. With Black and White TV at the time, her stained clothes weren’t as vivid as they would be now in color.

Oh my goodness! What a small world. What a devastating time. I was talking to Joe about it & he his feelings were the same striking was the same word he used.
